Recent data reveals a shift in how customers engage—and how operators respond … Andddd spoiler alert I bloody love it :

• Conversion rates for walk-ins and phone calls have dipped:

  • Walk-in conversions fell from 69.7% to 60%.

• Telephone enquiries dropped from 57% to 51%.

• Email enquiries are on the rise:

  • Conversions jumped from 25.1% to 33.8%.

This shift reflects changing customer preferences and a broader range of options in the market.

Efficiency Gains Through Technology

• Staffing levels are at a record low:

  • Average staff per store is now 2.6, down 14% from 3.3 at the pandemic’s start.

• As recently as 2023, staffing was 3.0 per store—a significant change in just two years.

  • Growth of remotely managed stores: 16.2% of facilities now operate unmanned. (All our sites are manless apart from one)
