Self Storage Tip 💡 💰

This is gonna offend a lot of people!! 

But I truly believe it 

If you're in business and you don’t or haven’t paid for a consultancy, a mentor or mastermind, you are a failure and certainly not doing the best you can for your business… 

I’ve never met a truly successful business owner who hasn’t paid in some way for masterminds, mentor or consultants 

Told yaaaaa it was a controversial opinion … 

Andddd yes im well aware …. I offer consultancy, so I would say that, haha 

But one I 100% believe to be true 

Let’s take my self storage journey for example …. 

From literally knowing nothing to world class operator 😂😂

I’m kidding BTW 😜

Ok, so when I started, I wanted to learn as much as possible 

• I leveraged the self storage association and went to every training they put on (I learnt loads)

   

• I travelled to America to the World Self Storage Conference to learn what “the yanks” knew that we didn’t 

   

• On my first visit to America, I heard about a guy called Jim Ross … I started following his every word, and he is the reason I started doing price increases … Literally added hundreds of thousands in profit for me … Jim, I owe you a beer or two in Vegas next year 🙃

   

• I hired Angela … An Armadillo Manager who knew far more about self storage than me 

   

• I’ve worked with just about every self storage consultant in the UK … All amazing guys 

   

• I joined a Self Storage Mastermind because there wasn’t one in the UK (AJ Osborne’s for anyone asking)

   

• I paid the legend that is Anne Ballard $2,000 for a one-hour consultation … She is amazing btw 

   

• I’ve paid the best business coach in the UK, Dan Bradbury over £100k …. We’re now best friends …. Cough cough Aren’t we DAN 🙃??!!!   

Ok, I think you get the point haha … I’ve spent ALLLOOOOTT and continue to do so

People have such a negative view of coaches and don’t get it …. 

Yet people will happily spend a fortune on a university course

Haha, don’t get me started on the university scam! 

I really do believe if you wanna get somewhere faster, find someone who’s been there and done it, someone who’s a little further ahead than you in that certain industry and pay them … 

That was my whole playbook 

It’s taken me from  knowing nothing about self storage to knowing …. Errrr, just a little more than nothing 😂😂

Ohhhhh … nearly forgot … My wife turns 40 in a couple of years, and im paying a guitar guy to teach me so I can play her a song at her birthday bash 

No one tell her … it’s a secret 

See, there’s literally a coach for just about anything
