I think its important to mystery shop your competitors

Are you mystery shopping your competition??? 🤷‍♂️

Its crucial to know what they are offering … What they are doing right and how you can improve their offer

Store Firsts offering is Aggressive … Ive never really wanted to compete because of their aggressive marketing HOWEVER I don’t feel like we’re direct competition, were more indirect competition

They are based in Nottingham … One town over from Mansfield

Im treating them as some sort of competition because digitally they come up in the Mansfield area

Right lets unpack their offering -

• 12 Weeks Half Price … Wow that is a great offer

• £15,000 of insurance cover … Impressive

• Free Van … But there is a small print here … Only Move Ins, over 100 sq ft and have to pay for 12 weeks upfront! I like it but this is something we can better if need be

• Free training and meeting rooms, kitchen and breakout rooms …. I like it but im not sure this is needed in Mansfield. I could be wrong BUT I have the space to introduce if needed

• No notice required … Not sure this is going to move the needle

• No deposit … We don’t charge this either

SOOOO …. This is an impressive and very aggressive package (I actually chose not to open in Rochdale because I didn’t want to directly compete haha I know, im a wimp 😰), but because they aren’t in the same town im less worried this time.

Thats not a challenge Stor First, OK??? 😅 Haha

It might come a point we have to decrease street rates and then have a revenue management system in place to increase the rates longterm

Im looking forward to competing indirectly with Store First for the first time … It will be an experience im bound to learn from.

Back to the originally question, do you know what your competition are offering?? You need to know what your competing against.

There’s always something to learn from competition
