The Self Storage Funnel 🤔

Below is how I think about my conversions and traffic

(For reference, I hide my prices behind an information wall ie I need you phone number and email to get a price …. I know you do this different in the U.S but at the minute this approach works best in the UK)

1 - We need to get people to visit our website.

Without this nothing else is possible!

There’s 2 main ways to do this -

  • Paid Traffic ie Google Adds

  • Organic traffic ie SEO, Word Of Mouth or Brand Recognition etc

2 -The main objective of your website is to get the prospect (website visitor) to raise their hand and show interest ie get a quote

BTW 20% of your website visitors should be getting a quote …. If there not your website is not doing its job!!

For example last weeks we had 362 visitors to the website and we had 81 quotes, that’s a 22% conversion (website visitors to quotes)

3 - Now we have 81 quotes to put through our sales process ie call back, text and emails.

The ONLY aim for this part of the funnel is to get the prospect to book

Last week we had 20 reservations from our 81 quotes, that’s a 25% conversion …. We aim for 30% to be honest.

Over all we had 362 website visitors and 20 reservations …. That’s a 6% overall conversion … Website visitors to reservations

To recap …

1 - Website visitors … Without this you can’t do anything else

2 - Over 20% of your website visitors should give you their contact information … IE do an online quote

3 - Over 25% of quotes should book

The ultimate aim is for over 5% of our website traffic reserving a room
