This was like business porn when I heard this on a podcast ….

Harold Schultz sales to investment ratio at Starbucks is 2:1

So to invest £1 million in a store that means he would need to project £2 million in sales.

To open a new store he not only needs a great Ratio to Investment …

He also needs …..

20% yearly return

So if it’s a £1 million investment

He needs -

- £2 million in revenue (2:1 investment ratio)

- At least £400k yearly profit (20% yearly return on revenue)

When I mentioned this to Dan, he said -

Another way to look at it was to take away the revenue criteria

If we do so it looks like this -

£1,000,000 Investment

£400,000 Profit

This basically means good old Harold looks for a 40% return on capital

When we convert that back to self storage …

We can hit 40% returns …

Self Storage is BRILLIANT business module
