Housekeeping .... This newsletter will now be 5 days a week - Monday to Friday!

The reason ... Its literally taking over my life, ha that was honest! 

I love it but I have to consider others AKA the wife. The only time I can work on the newsletter is on an evening and believe it or not it does take a lot of time to put together ... I know it looks like I throw this together haha but I dont!

You know me, I love work / life balance. Every person is different on how that should look ... There is no right and wrong. Whats right for me maybe wrong for you, we have to do whats right for us. 

So thats why I decided to do it 5 days a week. 

I honestly love doing this newsletter ... Its like therapy for me! ... By the feedback its you love it to (nearly more popular than the podcast), were getting over 5,000 opens a month and over 70% of people are opening it daily, which in the newsletter land is completely unheard of ... So thank you!

Their revenue isnt massive but its increased over 10% from the previous year .... BUT thats not why I highlighted it ... I highlighted this article because yet again their occupancy went down but their revenue went up. 

Its a timely reminder for us all that revenue management is key ... If you have good revenue management then occupancy can go down but revenue will most likely go up!

I think we can all take a leaf out of the amazon book of customer care .... 

Start with the customer and work backwards!

Do you make the customer fill in endless information to get the price? 

(This is for the facilities that hide prices behind an information wall … We do this method as we see increased conversions)

The idea of an information wall is so you can follow up with the customer. However ... the only information you need to follow up is -

  • Name 

  • Telephone number  

  • Email Address

No more information is needed! Yet I see operators asking for -

  • Address … You don’t need to know at this stage 

  • How long they need it for … Why do you need that? What difference does it make?

  • When they need it from? Again, you can find this out on follow up

  • What colour their front door is … Haha ok im kidding on this front

Think about your customer, they want as little barriers as possible to get the price
