Goodbye UK ✈️ 🛫 💺

Good Morning, Store Nation,

In a couple days, my family and I are getting on a plane to America for three months —

kids in tow, bags packed (apart from mine) , and my wife already questioning every decision she's ever made. Ha! She’s not as sure as me about this

We've decided to homeschool the kids while we travel around America

Now, before you think this is just a glorified holiday, hear me out — 

Because there's a very specific reason we're starting in the US.

America is the birth place and home of Self Storage

I always say that whatever happens in the American self storage market follows here in the UK about five years later.

EVERY SINGLE TIME. 

So if you want to know where UK self storage is heading, we don't look at the UK — we look at America right now.

Which means this trip is as much a business trip as it is a family adventure.

Haha, that’s what I’m telling the taxman as well!! 

I want to meet as many operators as possible, 

Visit as many sites as possible, 

And bring everything I learn straight back to you guys. 

America is the home of self storage, and I want to be right in the middle of it.

There's also the culture of America. 

America is pretty similar to the UK, so it's a good place to test the waters before we dive into very different cultures next year. 

Baby steps! Keep the wife happy.
