I heard this data on the Mike Green Podcast … I brilliant entrepreneur in the UK

Self employed men and woman the suicide rate is 30% higher than men and woman who are employed 😲

Self employed men in the uk have 17% higher risk of death 😲

56% of small business owners have experienced poor mental health in the last 12 months … compared to 25% of employed. 😲

That’s more than 1 in 2 have poor mental health compared to 1 in 4 for employees. Wow!

Shocking stats … we have to take care of ourselves (even if your not self employed)

I wanted to highlight this because I don’t think its spoken about enough in business circles!

When I had my restaurant for 19 months (8 years ago), it was the toughest period of my life … The pressure was almost unbearable

The restaurant didnt do very well and we sold it for a massive loss!I felt like a massive failure!

I certainly had some dark moments, I thought my wife and kids would be better off without the loser dad/husband in their lives …. I know its stupid to think and feel that way but back then I really believed those thoughts …

I literally used to hide under my covers not wanting to get out of bed … I was hiding from the world

So I can certainly relate to these stats above …. But the more we talk about this issue the less lonely people will feel and in tern decrease these shitty stats!

Remember what they say on an aeroplane …. We have to put our own masks on first.

Please take a moment this weekend and ask yourself what’s your mask look like? What can you do this weekend for you!

We can’t be the best partner, husband, wife, employee, leader etc etc if we aren’t taking care of ourself
