Self Storage Tip - 💡 💰 🤑

What percentage of your tenants are delinquent?? 🧐

I was listening to an American self storage podcast (Listening is learning and learning is earning 💰) There are some brilliant self storage podcasts BTW!!

Anyway, back to the American self storage podcast, they said that its was acceptable to lose up to 3.5% of your revenue to bad debtors!

I totally disagree ❌

I think 3.5% is a WHOPPING amount to write off

Willerby takes around £75k per month … So in this example it is acceptable to lose £2,250 every month to bad debtors!

There is simply no way I would accept this!

I think losing 1% revenue to bad debtors is too much 😳

The reason I bring this to your attention is …

• I want you to look and measure your debtors …

• What is an acceptable level of revenue to write off to debt?

• Do you have procedures in place to chase the money?

• Could you improve the procedures?

If your lose over 1% of your revenue to debtors then you need to look at debt management procedures and improve these

Debt Management is so important to your business

If you owe us money you will be contacted by the Debt Management Department everyday (AKA the Store More team … Just sounds more officially and scary when you call it the Debt Management Department)

We will call, email and text. If that doesn’t work work we will call secondary contact

We work hard to get the customers …. I don’t think we should accept it when people don’t pay 😡
